Kefalonia

I was very lucky to travel to Kefalonia for our family holiday last year staying in Lassi, a beautiful area offering a wide selection of tavernas shops and beautiful cocktail bars with breath-taking views.

It is a gem in the Ionian Sea. It carries a rich history in cultural tradition. It's the biggest Ionian Island and the green of its mountains blend with the blue of the water making it truly unique and a beloved destination. Pine, cypress and olive trees.

You can hire a car to travel around the island or take the local buses. We hired a car for a few days and also used the local buses and taxis.

There is so much to offer and see and makes it a great holiday destination for everyone. Makris Gialos and Platis Gialos are both very lovely and easily accessible beaches.

Visitors wishing to go to Myrtos beach, a renowned spot, must drive there. Also visit gorgeous Antisamos beach, which gained worldwide fame through the Hollywood movie Captain Corelli's Mandolin, parts of which were shot on location. Other worthwhile beaches include Ai Helis, a cosmopolitan place,

If you come to Kefalonia you MUST do the Melissani Cave, if you do nothing else! The water is crystal clear and it is unbelievable it gives you a unique view of a limestone cave holding a sunlit lake!

There are many different areas to visit in Kefalonia with each area offering something different and unique. In Argostoli you could take a morning stroll to the harbour for a unique chance to see the Loggerhead turtles or take a trip to one of the private wineries and have a wonderful wine tasting experience. Visit Skala for traditional tavernas and cocktail bars, Lassi for some of the best beaches on the island, Sami for a beautiful harbour front and walking trails.

Whatever you decide I can guarantee you will find spectacular beaches, beautiful scenery and have a great holiday to remember.
